Job Summary: This role contributes to responsible and sustainable mine closure, ensuring legal, environmental, and technical compliance of Yanacocha facilities during progressive closure. Key Responsibilities: 1. Collaborate on holistic and responsible mine closure. 2. Coordinate progressive mine closure plans with involved departments. 3. This combined with our growth opportunities, makes Newmont great company to work. * People: Our goal is to maximize the competitive advantage we realize through our people. * Health \& Safety : Our goal is to achieve zero harm. * Operational Excellence: Our goal is to create a culture of continuous improvement. * Growth: Our goal is to deliver profitable production gains. * Sustainability and External Relations: Our goal is to gain access to land, resources, approvals and capital ##### **Your Impact:** * You will directly contribute to responsible and sustainable mine closure, ensuring legal, environmental, and technical compliance of Yanacocha facilities during progressive closure. ##### **As part of our team** * You will collaborate on holistic and responsible mine closure through planning, coordination, and execution of post-closure research, revegetation, and monitoring programs within Peru’s current legal framework, limited to Yanacocha’s operational scope during progressive closure, final closure, and post-closure of its facilities. * You will coordinate with involved departments—including Mine Planning, Water Operations, Health and Safety, Environment and Social Responsibility—to develop Progressive Mine Closure Plans, thereby ensuring compliance with Yanacocha’s current Mine Closure Plan. * You will support legal compliance related to modifications and updates of Yanacocha’s Mine Closure Plans with engineering information. Additionally, you will assist in preparing various Semi-Annual Reports submitted to the Ministry of Energy and Mines, and respond to any observations raised, always subject to review and approval by the Closure Planning Management. * You will advise on developing the LOM\&FASB exercise for the Yanacocha site. You will also annually develop engineering designs for mine closure projects (concurrent closure) to support future project closure plans. * You must know and comply with the Mining Safety and Hygiene Regulations (DS.024\-2016\-EM and DS. N° 023\-2017\-EM), and the Regulation of Law 29783 (DS 005\-2012TR). * You will develop engineering for mine closure, post-closure, and monitoring, following project-established standards and specifications. * You will review and requisition materials (BOMs) for various projects. * You will support the technical justification required for annual Mine Closure AFEs. * The responsibilities described above are the primary duties of this position. Additional activities not included in this document may also be assigned, and the immediate supervisor is responsible for communicating them. ##### **Requirements for Success in This Role** * **Education:** Licensed and registered professional engineer (Civil, Mechanical or Mining) * **Experience:** Minimum five (5) years of experience in mining operations, in areas related to mine closure or similar roles within engineering and construction projects; of which at least three (3) years must be specifically focused on developing mine closure engineering projects. * **Knowledge:** Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project), AutoCAD, Sedcad, ArcGIS, and Project. Class A\-I driver’s license, valid for at least three (3) years (mining site driving experience required). Intermediate English proficiency. * **Competencies:** Customer orientation, effective communication, planning and organization, initiative, adaptability and flexibility, perseverance, dynamism and energy, analytical and conceptual thinking, teamwork, leadership. ##### **Your Work Environment** * The candidate must be in good health and physical condition to work in field conditions across varying climates and at altitudes of 4,200 m.s.n.m. * Work schedule is four (4) days on duty followed by three (3) days off. Weekend on-call duties may be required on a rotational basis. * Willingness to reside in Cajamarca. We understand no candidate will meet every single desired qualification.
