Description
Job Summary:
Monitor, interpret, and analyze stability control parameters for tailings dams and limestone quarries, conducting field inspections and updating the geotechnical database.
Key Highlights:
1. Experience in monitoring and interpretation of geotechnical instrumentation.
2. Participation in world-class copper mining projects.
3. Slope stability analysis and development of geotechnical models.
**JOB MISSION:** Monitor, interpret, and analyze stability control parameters for the tailings dam and limestone quarry, implementing a rigorous program of field inspections and monitoring of quarry waste dumps, while populating the geotechnical database through geotechnical mapping to ensure continuous field inspection of quarry and dam areas and identification of potential geotechnical risk zones, promptly communicating findings in alignment with the overall objectives of the Geotechnical Department.
**RESPONSIBILITIES:**
* Monitor, interpret, and analyze geotechnical instrumentation data.
* Conduct bench mapping of pit wall surfaces.
* Perform scheduled daily, weekly, or monthly field inspections.
* Monitor mining performance and blast-induced vibrations.
* Coordinate proper cleaning of quarry waste dumps.
* Collect samples from waste dumps and quarry materials for subsequent material strength testing (UCS, PLT, density, moisture content, soil classification at waste dumps and quarry, among others).
* Promptly report zones at risk due to instability to facilitate timely decision-making and action.
* Log geotechnical drill cores from soil and rock mass, characterizing materials from the quarry, waste dumps, and tailings dam.
* Install subsurface geotechnical instrumentation (piezometers, inclinometers, coaxial cable TDR) and surface instrumentation (seismograph, extensometer, prisms, accelerometer, radar, robotic station).
* Communicate geotechnical conditions during daily line-up meetings and weekly planning sessions.
In 2007, Aluminum Corporation of China (CHINALCO) established Minera Chinalco Perú S.A. (Chinalco Perú) to build, develop, and operate the Toromocho copper mega-project.
Toromocho Mining Unit has been the first world-class copper mine executed and developed by a Chinese company from inception overseas. It is located in the district of Morococha, province of Yauli, department of Junín, at an elevation exceeding 4,500 meters above sea level.
It operates a concentrator plant processing approximately 117,200 tonnes of ore per day.
Today, Chinalco Perú is one of the most important companies within China Copper and the largest wholly-owned foreign subsidiary of CHINALCO.
