Participation in the development of advanced control solutions (APC/MPC) **JOB MISSION:** Coordinate, manage, and execute tasks related to process control software for the concentrator plant and Kingsmill plant (ABB 800xA and associated applications), providing support to operations and maintenance to ensure process stability, reduction of variability, and continuous improvement, while participating in the implementation and enhancement of advanced control. **RESPONSIBILITIES:** * Coordinate, monitor, and support the operation of process control software (ABB 800xA: loops, alarms, trends, historization, displays/HMI, and associated applications), coordinating corrective actions and escalating to the Senior Engineer in complex cases. * Administer, modify, and improve control logic in 800xA (sequences, interlocks, permissive logics, regulatory configurations, alarms) and perform loop tuning/optimization (PID and structures such as cascade/override/feedforward), considering impact on metallurgical process variables (density, P80, circuit stability) and in coordination with Operations. * Configure, adjust, and maintain expert system/APC logic (rules, limits, enable conditions, supervisory setpoints), review DCS–Expert system integration (tags, signals, data quality, modes), and conduct testing and commissioning under design/standards defined by the Senior Engineer, considering basic metallurgical criteria (grade, recovery, circuit stability) and process constraints. * Participate in developing new advanced control solutions (APC/MPC/hybrid strategies), including gathering requirements, preparing data, defining manipulated/controlled variables and constraints, executing simulations/tests, and documenting results—aligned with operational and metallurgical objectives of the circuit; final design and technical approval rest with the Senior Engineer. * Analyze data for control/process performance diagnostics (variability, stiction, saturation, measurement quality, dead times, “bad actors”), and collaborate with Analytics/AI teams on derived variables, soft sensors, and actionable recommendations—ensuring consistency with control constraints. * Prepare technical reports (failures, performance, changes) and maintain up-to-date documentation (control philosophy, logics, strategy changes, manuals), ensuring compliance with MOC, traceability, and evidence of testing. In 2007, Aluminum Corporation of China (CHINALCO) established Minera Chinalco Perú S.A. (Chinalco Perú) to build, develop, and operate the Toromocho copper mega-project. The Toromocho Mining Unit has been the first world-class copper mine executed and developed from inception abroad by a Chinese company. It is located in the district of Morococha, province of Yauli, department of Junín, at over 4,500 meters above sea level. It operates a concentrator plant processing approximately 117,200 tonnes of ore per day.
