This shift toward clean energy—and the need for commodities—is essential to support the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a more sustainable way than ever before. **Position Summary:** ----------------------- This position will be responsible for mechanical equipment packages in copper concentrator plants, with the ability to conduct meetings with clients and vendors to determine scope of work, technical and design definitions, as well as quantity and cost estimates for mechanical aspects of a project’s scope. The candidate must have the necessary knowledge to review, develop, modify, and/or evaluate mechanical components and processes and their interrelation with other disciplines. Their recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure unique and complex mechanical requirements of a project are met. **Key Responsibilities:** ---------------------------------- * Coordinate and manage mechanical packages as the technical lead responsible for documents and scheduled activities within the project. * Develop design engineering for mechanical equipment and systems for mining industry projects, including pumps (water and slurry distribution networks), grinding circuits, and others related. * Review and, where applicable, perform calculations and analyses leading to technical design recommendations. * Be responsible for material requisitions, specifications, data sheets, and other technical documents related to procurement of mechanical equipment. * Develop and lead supplier evaluations and technical bid assessments for the purchase of mechanical equipment. * Coordinate with mechanical designers to produce designs and drawings according to project standards, and with mechanical P\&ID designers to produce drawings according to project standards. * Coordinate work and collaborate with other disciplines and engineering areas within the Company. This involves integrating mechanical efforts with all assigned areas and specialized groups, engineering disciplines, the client, suppliers, contractors, construction, and other functional groups. * Review and/or prepare conceptual studies, calculation reports, designs, reports, or proposals. * Provide technical assistance to other mechanical staff and interact with project functions and the client to resolve complex regulatory issues using knowledge of industry codes and standards. * Support project and construction management to identify and meet mechanical requirements of the project. **Requirements: Education and Experience:** ---------------------------------------- Requires a degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, and a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience specifically in mining. Mining experience is essential. **Required Knowledge and Skills:** ------------------------------------------- * Experience in development of engineering for mining projects (mandatory). * Knowledge of dry and wet area equipment applied in projects and required in mining industry processes (mandatory). * Field experience in the mining industry (valued) * Knowledge of design and calculation of material handling equipment in concentrator plants (desirable) * Knowledge of development and analysis of water and slurry pipeline calculations (mandatory) * Knowledge of development of calculations for air networks, HVAC, and fire protection systems (desirable) * Ability to effectively apply technical knowledge and skills to solve a variety of problems, complete tasks/assignments, and provide guidance and advice. * Experience and sufficient capability to act with considerable professional autonomy. * Advanced intermediate level of spoken and written English (will be valued) **Benefits:** --------------- For decades, Bechtel has worked to inspire the next generation of Engineers—and beyond!
