Job Summary: We are seeking two Engineering Specialists to support management and superintendents with technical assistance and to assume responsibility for engineering within their discipline across projects under the Vice Presidency of Projects. Engineering development for large-scale mining projects Company Description Anglo American, in partnership with Mitsubishi Corporation, is developing the Quellaveco mining operation—one of the world’s largest copper deposits—located in the Moquegua region in southern Peru. Quellaveco will have a 30-year reserve life. It will employ open-pit mining and flotation processes to produce copper concentrates, as well as molybdenum and silver as by-products. Quellaveco is expected to produce an average of 300,000 tonnes of copper per year during its first 10 years of operation. Job Description Anglo American is currently seeking 2 Engineering Specialists: * 1 vacancy in the Civil/Structural (CSA) discipline * 1 vacancy in the Electrical/Instrumentation discipline **RESPONSIBILITIES:** Support the Engineering Management team—and thereby the Study and Execution Superintendents—with technical discipline-specific support across various Study and Execution phases of projects developed under the oversight of the Vice Presidency of Projects, covering all portfolios. Accountable to the Engineering Manager for engineering within their discipline. * Provide expert-level engineering capability in their discipline at the project level * Review Level 1 (L1) engineering packages. **MAIN FUNCTIONS:** * Support project development management during Study and Execution phases. * Support engineering design from the perspectives of constructability, operability, and compliance with applicable current and corporate standards, within their discipline. * Support engineering delivery for various projects and operations, ensuring adherence to requirements and challenges set forth by the Engineering Vice Presidency. * Liaise with Anglo American peers, IoT teams, contractors, advisors, consultants, and auditors for project development. * Identify and promptly report potential engineering issues; subsequently recommend solutions to Engineering Management. * Ensure that documentation delivered by engineering contractors meets the required scope and associated engineering phase specifications. * Prepare reports and/or presentations on project status, as well as on identified potential issues and recommended solutions, as directed by immediate supervisors. **SHE FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** * Know and apply Anglo American Quellaveco’s SHE values, principles, and policy, contributing to its vision of Zero Harm. * Comply with, and ensure compliance with, legal requirements and other commitments assumed by Anglo American Quellaveco, as well as internal Management System standards, procedures, and regulations—including attendance at training, awareness, and Zero Harm culture-building sessions. * Ensure implementation of SHE hazard and risk control measures at the workplace to enable safe work execution. * Promptly report unsafe acts and conditions, as well as incidents. * Ensure continuous improvement in Safety, Health, and Environmental Management. Requirements **EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS** * Professional in **Civil Engineering with Structural (CSA) specialization and/or Electrical specialization with instrumentation knowledge**, with demonstrable experience in tailings management. * Desirable: Master’s degrees, postgraduate qualifications, or certifications related to project leadership and implementation (PMI), and corporate engineering, mining, construction, and governance standards. A Master’s degree in the relevant technical field is preferred. * Licensed Professional Engineer. * Intermediate-level English (minimum requirement) * Class AI driver’s license (desirable) **EXPERIENCE** * Minimum 15 years’ experience in engineering design for medium- and large-scale projects in mining and/or oil and/or gas, including participation in governance processes within multinational corporations. * At least 10 years’ experience participating in all execution phases of medium- and large-scale projects within engineering-focused mining companies. * Experience in engineering development for mining projects with investment capital of at least USD 200–300 million (TIC). * Technical proficiency in their discipline, tailings management and related infrastructure, and knowledge and experience in multidisciplinary engineering project development. **RELEVANT INFORMATION:** * Base: Lima * Work schedule: 5x2 * Contract type: Permanent * Reporting line: Engineering Manager * Application deadline: 03/06/2026 Additional Information Our company is our people—and we have no doubt about our top priority: doing everything we can to safeguard the safety and wellbeing of our workforce.
