It is composed of six divisions: three focused on core industries (Infrastructure and Energy (IEN), Financial Institutions (FLI), and Corporates (SMC)); two focused on cross\-cutting themes (Climate and Environment (CLE) and Gender and Social Inclusion (GSI)); and one dedicated to Portfolio Management (PTM). Together, these divisions support the implementation of IDB Invest’s mandate by providing sectoral expertise, thematic leadership, and strategic portfolio oversight across the institution. **About this position** ----------------------- The Corporates Division (SMC), part of the Industries and Cross\-Cutting Themes Department, leads the origination and delivery of operations in agribusiness, forestry, mining, manufacturing, tourism and digital economy. The Andean Region Division (RAN), part of the Regions Department, is responsible for managing business and client engagement from a country perspective within its member countries. It also provides oversight to the Country Representatives of the IDB’s Vice Presidency for Countries and to the Directors of Delivery Units at IDB Invest. The Delivery Units are responsible for: (i) establishing and maintaining client relationships, (ii) building pipeline through upstream project and sector development, (iii) transaction execution through the incorporation of multiple financial products including loans, guarantees, debt capital markets, equity and quasi\-equity instruments, as well as resource mobilization and technical cooperation and (iv) acting as the center of institutional knowledge and expertise for the sectors covered by the Division. This integrated model enables Delivery Units to align business development with strategic priorities, enhance regional coordination, and ensure operational effectiveness across IDB Invest. You will report to the Director of the Delivery Unit that has a dual\-reporting structure to both the Managing Director of the Corporates Division (SMC) and the Andean Region Division (RAN). We are looking for a seasoned investment professional with strong existing business relationships in the Andean Region (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela), capable of leading origination and structuring efforts across the diverse sectors covered by the Corporates Division. The ideal candidate will bring solid experience in corporate lending, structuring and senior client relationships, in addition to a deep understanding of corporate credit risk and capital markets. **What you’ll do** ------------------ * Originate, develop, and manage a solid portfolio of investment opportunities with corporate clients across the Andean Region. * Drive business origination efforts by leveraging deep expertise in regional markets and industry sectors, while fostering strong relationships with corporate partners, development finance institutions, export credit agencies, and other key stakeholders. * Structure and execute tailored financial structures—including debt, equity, and mezzanine instruments—for clients in sectors such as agribusiness, manufacturing, mining, pulp and paper, housing, real estate, tourism, digital economy and other industry and services related areas, ensuring alignment with IDB Invest’s impact\-driven objectives. * Oversee the end\-to\-end investment process for complex transactions, from initial engagement and structuring to negotiation and financial close. Support syndication efforts. * Offer specialized sector knowledge during due diligence, including project assessment, financial modeling, performance metric definition, and competitive analysis to support robust investment decisions. * Lead negotiations and manage legal documentation processes in close coordination with legal teams, applying strategic problem\-solving to navigate challenges and finalize agreements. * Work collaboratively with environmental and social, development effectiveness, corporate governance, technical assistance, blended finance and other teams to foster sustainability and development impact into project design and execution, addressing sector\-specific risks and opportunities. * Support strategic planning efforts by contributing to the development and refinement of IDB Invest’s sector strategies and business plans. * Represent IDB Invest at key industry forums, conferences, and stakeholder events to enhance institutional visibility, stay abreast of market developments, and share insights through knowledge products and training initiatives. * Travel within the Andean Region’s countries, as necessary. **What you'll need** -------------------- * Education: Master’s degree in economics, finance, business, law, engineering, or another relevant field. * Experience: At least 8 years of progressive experience in project development, structuring and lending to private sector clients.
