Communicate with guests/clients to resolve maintenance issues with little or no supervision. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machinery. Transport equipment (e.g., tools, radio). Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and building disconnect switches. Maintain a maintenance inventory and request parts and supplies as necessary. Ensure daily activities and issues are communicated to employees on other shifts using appropriate communication programs and standards. Demonstrate proficiency in any of the following categories, above-average skill in two or more of the following categories, and basic skill in the remaining categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electricity, mechanics, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building management. Demonstrate strong knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required to perform repair and maintenance tasks. Demonstrate basic ability to repair or replace copper or PVC piping (including soldering). Diagnose malfunctions and perform basic repairs on all types of equipment (e.g., pump and motor replacement), plumbing (e.g., unclogging toilets and drains), electrical components including lamps, cosmetic elements, extension cords, vacuums, internet devices, replacing switches and outlets, and other guest room items. Program televisions and perform general and engineering-related maintenance tasks. Assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and woodwork repairs, bulb and air conditioner filter replacements, and thorough cleanup of paint or repair areas. Use lockout/tagout procedures before performing maintenance work. Demonstrate practical knowledge of all engineering computer programs related to preventive maintenance, energy management, and other systems, including devices that interface with such programs. Demonstrate average ability to diagnose malfunctions in the hotel’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. Demonstrate ability to train and guide other engineers (e.g., Engineer I). Demonstrate ability to perform duties of an On-Call Engineer, including readings and rounds. Comply with all company safety policies and procedures; report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and properly store flammable materials. Ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of property information and protect company assets. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate and address guest service needs; assist people with disabilities; and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Ensure compliance with quality expectations and standards. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to achieve common goals; and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 50 pounds (4.5 kg) or less without assistance, as well as lift heavier weights or perform movement tasks without assistance. Ascend and descend stairs, service ramps, or ladders. Reach above shoulder height and below knees, including bending, twisting waist, pulling, and stooping. Enter and locate work-related information using computers. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Education: High school diploma or equivalent GED (General Educational Development) certificate preferred, or vocational/technical degree. Relevant Work Experience: Experience in general maintenance, interior and exterior surface preparation, and painting. At least 2 years of experience in hotel engineering/maintenance. Supervisory Experience: Supervisory experience not required. REQUIRED SKILLS License or Certification: Valid driver's license. Universal certification in chlorofluorocarbons (CFC).
