Job Description \-Anglo American is seeking a Database Specialist. **Purpose of the Role** * Manage, optimize, and administer geological information, ensuring its accessibility, integrity, security, and reliability. * Develop cross-functional QA-QC procedures across all geology activities. * Apply industry best practices and manage internal and external database audits. **Key Responsibilities** * Implement, develop, and optimize the system and procedures for capturing, validating, and storing geological data. * Responsible for safeguarding database integrity by verifying data entry and extraction against AAQ’s internal standards and international guidelines such as JORC and/or SAMREC, NI43-101, among others. * Ensure the integrity, security, and reliability of geological data. * Guarantee 100% operational uptime of AcQuire software (Gim Suite, Arena). * Responsible for managing database connectivity with other software: LIMS, Power BI, ArcGIS, Leapfrog, Minesight, RMSP. * Develop cross-functional geology QA-QC procedures across all departmental activities: Geometallurgy, Ore Control, Hydrogeology, etc. * Support internal, external, and peer-review database audits. * Provide comprehensive support to cross-functional stakeholder processes: Ore Control, Geometallurgy, Geology and Near-Mine, Mineral Resources, Geotechnics, Hydrogeology, and others. **SHE Functions and Responsibilities** * Know and apply Anglo American Quellaveco’s SHE values, principles, and policy—and contribute to its vision of zero harm. * Ensure that SHE hazard and risk controls related to assigned activities are implemented at the workplace to enable safe work execution. * Comply with internal Management System standards, procedures, and regulations—and actively participate in training, awareness, and Zero Harm culture development sessions. * Promptly report unsafe acts and conditions, as well as incidents. **Qualifications \-Academic Background** * Bachelor’s degree or higher in Systems Engineering, Geology, or related fields. * Proficiency in SQL data modeling is mandatory. * Basic knowledge of acQuire (Gim Suite, Arena) is required. * Programming languages: SQL, Python (mandatory); C++ desirable; Database Administration and geological information management experience preferred. * Basic knowledge of quality assurance and quality control (QA-QC) practices. * Basic English proficiency. * Valid driver’s license (desirable). **Work Experience** * Minimum of 5 years of global experience in exploration geology or mine geology. * At least 3 years of experience handling/interacting with geological databases and/or QA-QC. * Basic experience using software such as: Power BI, Leapfrog, Datamine, Minesight; GIS (desirable). * Basic experience in geological quality control. **SHE Competencies** * Ability to identify SHE hazards and risks associated with one’s activities, as well as recognize effective controls already implemented. **Additional Information \-About the Role** * Reports to: Superintendent of Mineral Resources * Work schedule: 8x6 * Work location: Truckshop – Quellaveco. * Contract type: Permanent **Application Deadline** * Sunday, February 08. **Next Steps** If you advance to the next stage, you will receive an email from us inviting you to complete your first assessment on our HireVue platform and fill out a data form via Microsoft Forms.
