Company Description Anglo American, in partnership with Mitsubishi Corporation, is developing the Quellaveco mining operation—one of the world’s largest copper deposits—located in the Moquegua region of southern Peru. Quellaveco has a 30-year reserve life. It will employ open-pit mining and flotation processes to produce copper concentrates, as well as molybdenum and silver as by-products. Quellaveco is expected to produce an average of 300,000 tonnes of copper per year during its first 10 years of operation. Job Description Anglo American is currently seeking a Drilling Operator (MS1\). **RESPONSIBILITIES:** * Safely execute daily tasks assigned by your supervisor, with environmental responsibility and in accordance with the technical specifications of the assigned drill rig. * Operate the drill rig for which you have achieved approved qualification authorized by the Mine Training Department. * Obtain authorization for at least four (4\) pieces of equipment associated with this role, including detailed operational classification as primary equipment. * Continue building competencies in core functions aligned with your role to enhance proficiency, thereby meeting safety, quality, and environmental stewardship standards. * Ensure achievement of Operational and Safety KPIs. **CORE FUNCTIONS:** * Participate in the training plan related to technical aspects of drill rig operation and autonomous operations within the mine, to meet operational safety requirements and support continuous process improvement and career progression. * Operate safely and productively, adhering to all procedures and work standards. * Be able to read and understand the operations manual and procedures for your equipment. * Verify that the equipment is in proper condition at the start and end of your shift. * Refrain from operating the equipment when maneuvers are unsafe. * Maintain cleanliness of the equipment, including all instruments. * Assume responsibility for operational activities under your direct control. * Inspect your work area. * Manage validity of internal operator license and MTC driver’s license for authorized equipment operation, complying with RITRAN requirements. * Apply Smart Roc D65 and Pit Viper 351D drilling operation practices and techniques for manual and tele-remote operation, according to acquired competencies, following equipment manufacturer instructions and recommendations. Associated drilling activities such as drill pattern surveys, plotter vehicle operations, etc., coordinated with supervision. * Operate the following equipment: * Pit Viper 351 Drill Rig (ADS Operation). * Smart Roc D65 Drill Rig & Van Bench Remote. * Pit Viper 351 Drill Rig (Manual Operation). * SmartRoc D65 Drill Rig (Manual & Tele-remote Operation). * 4x4 Pickup Truck (Light Vehicle). **SHE FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** * Know and apply Anglo American Quellaveco’s SHE values, principles, and policy, contributing to its Zero Harm vision. * Ensure implementation of SHE hazard and risk controls related to assigned activities at the worksite to enable safe task execution. * Comply with internal Management System standards, procedures, and regulations; actively participate in training, awareness, and Zero Harm culture development meetings. * Promptly report unsafe acts and conditions, as well as incidents. Requirements **EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS** * Completed secondary education. * Specific certifications required to operate machinery associated with this role or equivalent. * Driver’s License (Category A3\-C) for Van Bench Remote. **EXPERIENCE** When referring to experience, please consider the following: * Minimum two (2) years’ experience on primary equipment associated with this role or equivalent. * Experience in mining or companies providing mining-related services. * Experience in mining operational activities. * Knowledge of operational techniques related to the role’s primary equipment. * Knowledge of operational safety aspects, safety management tools, and operational procedures (PETS). **SHE COMPETENCIES** * Ability to identify SHE hazards and risks associated with own activities, as well as recognize implemented effective controls.
