Beyond Suncare’s intervention model was declared a Best Practice by the United Nations in 2017\. **Purpose of the Role** The Programs Director will assume strategic, operational, and institutional responsibility for Beyond Suncare’s programs in Uganda, Rwanda, and Malawi. This role encompasses end-to-end program management—from design through implementation—as well as technical and financial monitoring, preparation of high-quality reports, strengthening of local counterparts, and institutional representation of BSC before key development, sustainability, and impact stakeholders—with special emphasis on Malawi. **MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES** **Program Management** * Coordination and Relationship with Counterparts: Establish and maintain effective relationships with local counterparts and other partners, facilitating periodic meetings to review progress and coordinate efforts. * Lead the preparation and implementation of country strategies and action plans aligned with BSC guidelines, counterparts’ requirements, and donor expectations. * Monitor monthly program implementation in each country to ensure adherence to work plans and achievement of objectives. * Ensure all staff and stakeholders understand and reflect BSC’s mission, vision, values, goals, and policies in program execution. * Develop alternative mechanisms for optimal management, monitoring, and evaluation of program and project activities. * Provide regular updates on program progress and challenges. **Quality and Timeliness in Indicator Achievement** * Ensure result quality: Supervise compliance with program performance indicators. * Conduct periodic reviews to assess progress toward program objectives. * Develop and implement improvement plans when indicators are not met. **Program Reporting** * Report and budget preparation: Responsible for preparing semi-annual and annual progress reports. * Organize and facilitate periodic follow-up and progress review meetings. * Provide documentation required for social media and donor reporting. **Project Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation** * Supervise project monitoring to ensure information and reporting systems meet BSC’s and other stakeholders’ needs. * Ensure M\&E plans have been developed and implemented. * Follow up with project partners on implemented activities. **Counterpart Management** * Lead engagement with local counterparts. * Guarantee timely and qualitative implementation of projects. * Ensure proper reporting on progress. **Supervision of the Malawi Delegation** * Supervise the functioning of Beyond Suncare’s delegation in Malawi, including administrative and operational performance and council management. * Ensure compliance with national regulations. * Lead, together with the CEO and relevant BSC bodies, strategic dialogue with national and district authorities, health institutions, civil society organizations, donors, and other relevant actors in Malawi. * Ensure the Malawi delegation maintains a strong, coordinated, and globally aligned institutional presence. **Institutional Relations and Strategic Representation** * Lead, in coordination with the CEO and headquarters, Beyond Suncare’s institutional relations with key program-related stakeholders—especially in Malawi. * Represent BSC before ministries, health authorities, public agencies, international agencies, donors, NGO networks, organizations of persons with albinism, and other strategic actors. * Identify, cultivate, and consolidate institutional partnerships that contribute to program sustainability, scalability, and impact. * Ensure institutional dialogue aligns with BSC’s mission, positioning, technical standards, and strategic priorities. * Coordinate with the Malawi delegation and local counterparts to develop a coherent institutional agenda—avoiding duplication and reinforcing BSC’s presence in key decision-making spaces. * Support BSC’s advocacy and positioning in public health, dermatology, skin cancer, disability, human rights, and albinism-related national policies, strategies, or platforms. **Profile:** **SKILLS AND SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PROGRAMS DIRECTOR POSITION** **Required Skills** 1\. Interpersonal Skills: * Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders. **SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS** **Professional Experience:** * Minimum 3 years’ experience in program management, preferably in international development or NGOs. * Prior experience supervising teams and managing local counterparts. **Education:** * University degree in relevant fields such as Social Sciences, International Development, Project Management, Public Health, or related disciplines.
