The split set, also called a friction bolt or anchor, is a common mechanical support in underground mining and civil works, used to stabilize the ground. It consists of a steel tube with a longitudinal slit that is inserted into a drilled hole in the rock. As it is inserted, the tube compresses and exerts constant pressure against the walls, generating friction that firmly secures it. This immediate anchoring allows it to act as an effective support for stabilizing rock and preventing collapses.
