A skilled video editor must be familiar with all such formats and **capable of handling each one in the most appropriate manner**. **Cutting, modifying, and selecting the best video clips** Video editors often face hours upon hours of raw footage, only a small fraction of which is usable or compelling. One of their key responsibilities is to **analyze, select, and trim the most engaging clips**. **Adding effects, transitions, and audio clips** Although this depends on the project, in most cases, a sequence of unadorned video cuts appears monotonous. Thus, one function of a video editor is to **add necessary transitions between clips, visual effects, and audio tracks**, making the final output significantly more attractive and dynamic.
