Company Description Anglo American, in partnership with Mitsubishi Corporation, is developing the Quellaveco mining operation—one of the world’s largest copper deposits—located in the Moquegua region in southern Peru. Quellaveco has a 30-year reserve life. It will employ open-pit mining and flotation to produce copper concentrates, as well as molybdenum and silver as by-products. Quellaveco is expected to produce an average of 300,000 tonnes of copper per year during its first 10 years of operation. The position will be responsible for supporting Quellaveco’s water management, ensuring coherence and integration among operations, medium- and long-term planning, permits, social commitments, risk management, and corporate standards. Act as a liaison among technical, support, and social areas to ensure robust and growth-aligned water governance. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:** * Support the leadership of the Sustainability and Innovation Directorate in implementing and updating Quellaveco’s Integrated Strategic Water Management Plan, ensuring alignment with the Water Management Plan, Life of Asset Plan, expansion plans, and regulatory and social commitments. * Integrate and align objectives and outcomes from critical technical studies related to water security and social commitments—including regional and operational water balances, hydrological and hydrogeological modeling, and climate risk assessments—ensuring technical consistency, traceability, and executive clarity. * Manage the strategic governance of the Integrated Water Management Committee and the Water Stewardship Steering Committee, structuring agendas, preparing executive materials, and consolidating cross-functional inputs to enable strategic and informed decision-making. * Ensure structured tracking of commitments and agreements adopted within governance forums, maintaining traceability, clearly defined responsibilities, and timely monitoring of compliance. * Support the identification, assessment, and management of risks associated with water management—including hydrometeorological, operational, environmental, social, reputational, and watershed-related risks—by defining and strengthening critical controls aligned with corporate standards and the operational model. * Support the Technical Vice Presidency team in logically and temporally aligning environmental permits, operational management, social commitments, and expansion scenarios, anticipating regulatory, social, and reputational impacts. * Contribute to achieving assigned objectives under the Water Stewardship Strategy and committed operational metrics. * Contribute to closing gaps identified in internal and external audits, enhancing information quality and the maturity of the management system. * Design and monitor the Water Stewardship roadmap, including consolidated schedules, initiative prioritization, critical path identification, and budget visibility linked to the Integrated Strategic Water Management Plan, in coordination with responsible departments. * Promote, together with the Technical Vice Presidency and Corporate Affairs and Sustainability teams, improvements in data management, technical traceability, and systematization of the asset’s water-related knowledge—advancing information availability and real-time reporting for decision-making. * Contribute, when required, to the development and implementation of other priority initiatives under the site’s Sustainability Strategy, providing analytical support, inter-departmental coordination, and information structuring for decision-making. **SHE FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** * Know and apply Anglo American Quellaveco’s SHE values, principles, and policy, contributing to its vision of zero harm. * Comply with—and ensure compliance with—legal requirements and other commitments assumed by Anglo American Quellaveco, internal Management System standards, procedures, and regulations, as well as training, awareness, and Zero Harm culture-building meetings. * Ensure that control measures for identified SHE hazards and risks are implemented at the workplace to enable safe work execution. * Promptly report unsafe acts and conditions, as well as incidents. * Ensure continuous improvement in Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental Management. Requirements **EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS** **Mandatory:** * Degree in Civil, Agricultural, Hydraulic, or Environmental Engineering—or related field * Valid professional registration and license * Class A1 driver’s license with at least two years’ validity * Intermediate or advanced English proficiency **Desirable:** * Postgraduate degree or master’s in Water Resources Management or similar * Certification or training in project management * Proficiency in scheduling software such as Primavera or MS Project * Proficiency in specialized water resources, hydrology, and hydraulics software * Proficiency in geographic information management software (e.g., QGIS, GIS, etc.) **EXPERIENCE** * Minimum eight years’ experience in water management within open-pit mining operations (medium- or large-scale), including knowledge of and experience managing scenarios involving social and environmental conflicts. * Minimum five years’ experience in project management and leading teams. * Experience managing information using digital or automated platforms—for hydrological, geographical, and environmental data. **SHE COMPETENCIES** * Knowledge and experience in Safety, Health, and Environmental Management, considering applicable legal regulations for the mining sector. * Knowledge and experience in incident investigation. * Knowledge and experience in identifying SHE hazards and risks and proposing effective controls.
