Company Description Anglo American, in partnership with Mitsubishi Corporation, is developing the Quellaveco mining operation — one of the world’s largest copper deposits — located in the Moquegua region of southern Peru. Quellaveco has a 30-year reserve life. It will employ open-pit mining and flotation processes to produce copper concentrates, as well as molybdenum and silver as by-products. Quellaveco is expected to produce an average of 300,000 tonnes of copper per year during its first 10 years of operation. Job Description At Anglo American, we are seeking a Technical Learning Specialist to join our People & Organization team. **Primary Challenge** Design, implement, and manage Anglo American Quellaveco’s technical learning plan, ensuring the development of critical technical capabilities required for operations — through identification of critical competency gaps, design of learning solutions, management of specialized learning providers, and alignment with operational leaders to strengthen performance, safety, and technical career progression pathways. **Key Responsibilities** * Identify, assess, and prioritize technical competency development needs that support operational objectives, while ensuring alignment between requirements and organizational priorities, timelines, and resources. * Design and deploy initiatives that support the assessment and closure of operational technical competency gaps, aligned with current and future needs. * Ensure alignment of internal technical competency development programs with the talent development strategy, critical roles, succession planning, and external development programs. * Coordinate and ensure implementation of technical learning service contracts with defined KPIs and periodic quality reports, deviation analysis, and best practice sharing. * Identify, track, and report relevant KPIs to ensure progress, objective achievement, and efficient resource (time/budget) utilization according to annual plans — through monitoring of technical gap closure, effectiveness of development solutions, service quality, efficient resource utilization, and budget execution — implementing continuous improvement actions to strengthen the critical capabilities required by operations. * Assess technical competency of employees during internal promotions, internal mobility, and succession planning, aligned with expected performance criteria. * Explore best practices in technical competency development to support organizational growth and standardize safe work processes. * Ensure ongoing updates in response to technological or regulatory changes, aligned with the operational model. * Monitor and manage competencies against local and global technical standards in coordination with operational areas and relevant teams (e.g., safety, risk, compliance). * Drive adoption and use of digital platforms, data analytics, simulators, artificial intelligence, and other learning technologies to enhance user experience, traceability of technical competencies, and effectiveness of development programs. * Provide support and execute other activities, projects, or responsibilities assigned by the immediate leader within the specialist’s domain, based on business priorities and the objectives of the Vice Presidency of People \& Organization. **SHE Functions and Responsibilities** * Know and apply Anglo American Quellaveco’s SHE values, principles, and policy, contributing to its vision of zero harm. * Ensure SHE hazard and risk controls related to assigned activities are implemented at the workplace to enable safe work. * Comply with internal Management System standards, procedures, and regulations; actively participate in training, awareness, and Zero Harm culture-building sessions. * Promptly report unsafe acts and conditions, as well as incidents. Requirements **Academic Qualifications and Driver’s License** * Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Engineering, Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields. * Preferred specialization in learning management, technical learning pathway development, or certifications in project management or continuous improvement. * Preferred certifications in digital tools / AI for learning. * Class AI driver’s license (preferred) * Intermediate English (preferred) **Professional Experience and Knowledge** * Minimum 5 years in similar roles related to knowledge management or technical training in extractive industries (mining, hydrocarbons, energy, or related sectors). * Experience designing and implementing technical skills development programs in high-complexity/extractive industries. * Experience managing external providers, including performance, quality, and progress tracking of plans and key indicators. * Knowledge of technical gap assessment, validation, and closure processes. * Knowledge of technical learning pathway implementation. **SHE Competencies** * Ability to recognize SHE hazards and risks associated with own activities, as well as identify effective controls implemented.
