Responsibilities of the Cost and Budget Engineer (Low- and Medium-Voltage)
* **Prepare and analyze budgets** for low- and medium-voltage electrical projects, considering materials, labor, equipment, tools, and indirect costs.
* **Perform unit price analysis (UPA)** for activities related to electrical installations, including conduits, wiring, electrical panels, grounding systems, and protective devices.
* **Review and analyze drawings, technical specifications, and project scopes** to identify required resources and ensure accurate cost estimation.
* **Prepare technical and economic quotations** for tenders, commercial proposals, and electrical services.
* **Request and evaluate supplier quotations** for electrical materials, equipment, and specialized services to develop competitive budgets.
* **Perform electrical quantity take-offs** from drawings and technical site visits, verifying material quantities and required activities.
* **Analyze project profitability and economic viability**, considering margins, operating costs, and technical risks.
* **Coordinate with engineering, operations, and logistics departments** to validate resources, execution timelines, and project technical conditions.
* **Prepare cost comparisons and economic proposals** to support management decision-making.
* **Conduct cost control and monitoring during project execution**, comparing budgeted vs. actual costs.
* **Participate in technical site visits and field surveys** to assess real project conditions and improve estimation accuracy.
* **Prepare project cost and profitability analysis reports** for management or the administrative department.
* **Maintain an up-to-date database of market prices for electrical materials, equipment, and labor**.
* **Support preparation of valuations, change orders, and construction change control**, ensuring proper economic justification.
* **Identify opportunities for cost optimization and improvements in budgeting processes**, without compromising quality or technical compliance.
Required Competencies or Experience
* Experience in **industrial, commercial, or infrastructure electrical projects**.
* Knowledge of **electrical regulations and technical standards**.
* Proficiency in **advanced Excel, budgeting software, and reading of electrical drawings**.
* Experience with **substations, electrical panels, conduits, protection systems, and grounding systems**.
* Ability in **financial analysis, supplier negotiation, and cost control**.
