Company Description
Anglo American, in partnership with Mitsubishi Corporation, is developing the Quellaveco mining operation—one of the world’s largest copper deposits—located in the Moquegua region in southern Peru.
Quellaveco has a 30-year reserve life. It will use open-pit mining and flotation processes to produce copper concentrates, as well as molybdenum and silver as by-products. Quellaveco is expected to produce an average of 300,000 tonnes of copper per year during its first 10 years of operation.

Job Description
Anglo American is currently seeking a **Medium-Term Mining Planning Engineer**.
The role is responsible for developing and controlling mining projects, designs, and plans on five-year and annual timeframes, aiming to provide technical support to mining operations in alignment with Long-Term Plan guidelines.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:**
* Promote safety to achieve Zero Harm to people, equipment, and infrastructure.
* Comply with and enforce Anglo American’s Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Policies and Procedures (e.g., Risk Control Programme, Visible Leadership, others), controlling and preventing actions or conditions that could result in harm to one’s own or others’ health or safety.
* Apply Analysis and Improvement methodologies to identify root causes of undesirable events and implement improvement plans within the area of responsibility.
* Maintain continuous communication with mine and planning departments to coordinate timely information sharing and service delivery to the mine.
* Develop mining plans, including related projects and designs.
* Develop and maintain safe, effective, and efficient procedures for tasks under one’s responsibility.
* Conduct mine planning in accordance with established policies and aligned with the LoAP (Long-term Operating Plan).
* Promote and participate in innovation and optimization of planning processes.
* Monitor and provide technical support for proper execution of mining plans.
* Prepare reports to track activity compliance.
* Provide baseline data for preparation and development of the Five-Year Plan.
* Develop mine equipment simulation and estimation programs.
* Prepare and develop alternatives for Phase Design, Final Pit, and Dump Designs.
**SHE FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
* Know and apply Anglo American Quellaveco’s SHE values, principles, and policy, contributing to its vision of Zero Harm.
* Comply with and enforce legal requirements and other commitments assumed by Anglo American Quellaveco, internal Management System standards, procedures, regulations, as well as training, awareness, and Zero Harm culture-building meetings.
* Ensure implementation of SHE hazard and risk control measures at the workplace to enable safe work execution.
* Promptly report unsafe acts and conditions, as well as incidents.
* Ensure continual improvement in Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental Management.
Requirements
**EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS**
* Bachelor’s or Graduate Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent qualification.
**EXPERIENCE**
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mining planning tasks within mining projects and/or medium- to large-scale mining operations.
* Intermediate-level English language proficiency is desirable.
* A valid driver’s license is desirable.
* Expert-level proficiency in mining design and planning software.
**SHE COMPETENCIES**
* Knowledge and experience in Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Management, considering applicable legal regulations for the mining sector.
* Knowledge and experience in incident investigation.
* Knowledge and experience in identifying SHE hazards and risks and proposing effective controls.
