You'll work on a mix of new builds and legacy applications, supporting both client work and internal D\&R projects across development, maintenance, support, and backend infrastructure. We're equally interested in your ability to build with modern AI agent tooling — both for your own development workflow and as a service we deliver to clients. This isn't a single\-product role. One week you might be architecting a new Laravel app, the next you're debugging a long\-running WordPress site, hardening a Docker setup on AWS, or prototyping an AI agent for a client. We need someone who's energized by that variety and disciplined enough to deliver consistently across it. **Key Responsibilities** * Develop, maintain, and support web applications across multiple client and internal projects, spanning both modern and legacy codebases. * Work fluently across different PHP versions and frameworks \- primarily Laravel and WordPress \- adapting to whatever each project requires. * Build and optimize responsive frontends using modern JavaScript. We use a range of frontend approaches depending on the project; framework experience is welcome but not required. * Design and maintain backend systems and database schemas (MySQL/PostgreSQL) with an eye toward scalability, maintainability, and performance. * Set up and manage backend infrastructure on Linux and AWS, including Docker\-based environments, deployments, and CI/CD pipelines. * Integrate third\-party APIs, payment gateways, CRMs, and other services as project needs dictate. * Use AI coding agents and tooling as a core part of your development workflow — and contribute to how D\&R refines that workflow internally. * Build AI\-powered features and agents for clients (chatbots, internal automation, retrieval systems, agent\-driven workflows, etc.). * Troubleshoot production issues, perform maintenance work, and improve the health of existing applications over time. * Collaborate with designers, project managers, and other developers to translate business needs into technical solutions. * Contribute to internal coding standards, architecture patterns, and development practices. * Perform duties as assigned from time to time. **Qualifications** * 4\+ years of professional PHP development experience, with strong Laravel and WordPress proficiency. * English Language Proficiency: C2 level. * Comfortable working across multiple projects and switching contexts between new builds and legacy maintenance. * Experience working with different PHP versions, including older versions found in legacy codebases. * Solid backend infrastructure skills: Linux, AWS, Docker, deployment workflows, and CI/CD. * Proficient with modern JavaScript and able to build interactive frontends. Specific framework experience (Vue, React, etc.) is a plus but not required. * Strong database design and query optimization skills. * Solid understanding of application security: CSRF, XSS, SQL injection prevention, and authentication/authorization best practices. * Experience with Git\-based workflows (GitHub/GitLab). * Hands\-on experience using AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) in a production development workflow. * Working knowledge of the AI agent development cycle — designing, building, testing, and iterating on agent\-based systems. **Preferred Skills** * Experience building AI\-powered solutions for clients: agents, chatbots, RAG systems, automations, or AI\-integrated features inside web applications. * Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers or similar agent\-tooling integrations. * Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, and retrieval pipelines. * Frontend framework experience (Vue, React, or similar) and modern build tools (Vite, Webpack). * Familiarity with Tailwind CSS or similar utility\-first frameworks. * Experience with queues, workers, and real\-time event broadcasting (Redis, Laravel Echo, Pusher). * Exposure to search/indexing systems (MeiliSearch, Elasticsearch). * Knowledge of headless CMS and decoupled architecture. * Experience writing and maintaining automated tests (unit, integration, E2E). * Knowledge of SEO best practices and performance optimization. * Ability to thrive in a fast\-moving, multi\-project agency environment. **Contract Type**: Part\-time, Independent Contractor **To Apply** Fill out our application form at **https://forms.gle/MUS33z5FPRiaZeq87**.
