**Description**
---------------
We’re looking for a **Senior/Intermediate AS400 (iSeries) \& Trimble TMS Software Engineer** to stabilize, maintain, and support a mission\-critical, 24/7 transportation and warehouse environment. In this role, you will absorb critical tribal knowledge from an aging contractor base, eliminate single\-point\-of\-failure risks, and play a vital part in high\-pressure system migrations and future technology roadmaps—all while operating seamlessly as a natural extension of our client's internal team.**Responsibilities**
--------------------
You’ll work closely with the Technology Owner, internal operations, and external vendors to deliver reliable, 100% quality\-driven support for a non\-stop, high\-volume logistics infrastructure.### **Client \& Stakeholder Communication**
* Provide daily updates and maintain tight\-knit, direct integration with the internal technology organization.
* Act as a dependable, self\-driven team member who reduces the management burden on leadership (no "babysitting" required).
* Collaborate directly with internal dispatch, warehouse operations, finance, and external EDI trading partners.
### **Development, Maintenance \& Operations**
* Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance core transport and warehouse applications running on **IBM AS400 (iSeries)** and the **Trimble "Innovative" TMS** platform.
* Develop and maintain applications utilizing **RPG** (and potentially **COBOL**).
* Handle routine system administration, ticket handling, and infrastructure operations including:
* Onboarding new customer/vendor accounts.
* Database purging and data cleanup.
* Troubleshooting blocked or failed communications.
* Printer setup and configuration (IBM, IP\-sensitive).
### **Project Lifecycle, Migrations \& Integration**
* Actively support active, high\-pressure migrations, including the current **Geotab to Motive telematics transition** (remapping APIs, webhooks, hours of service, locations, and driver pay for \~23M messages/week).
* Assist with upcoming infrastructure milestones, including an **AS400 hardware migration** and a major **Trimble version upgrade**.
* Manage, document, and test critical **EDI processing**, **API mappings**, and third\-party integrations.
* Ensure near 100% quality deployment and testing, mitigating financial workflows risk within a limited/thin test environment.
### **Collaboration \& Knowledge Capture**
* Actively engage in intensive knowledge transfer with the current veteran contractor base to document and absorb vital tribal knowledge.
* Connect securely via AWS site\-to\-site VPN and manage versioned programs through GitHub.
**Qualifications**
------------------
* **Fluent English** (written and spoken) with exceptional communication skills ("the 4 C's": communication, comprehension, common sense, and culture fit).
* **Strong professional experience** working with **IBM AS400 (iSeries)** environments.
* Deep hands\-on experience with the **Trimble "Innovative" TMS** application (or closely related legacy enterprise TMS/Warehouse systems).
* Proficiency in **RPG** programming language (experience with **COBOL** is a strong plus).
* Proven experience managing **EDI processing**, **API mapping**, and data integrations.
* Strong familiarity with high\-volume data streaming/messaging (handling millions of messages/transactions per week).
* Experience with **AWS** (specifically managing workflows over site\-to\-site VPN) and modern version control workflows using **GitHub**.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating high dependability in high\-stakes, 24/7/365 production environments.
* Analytical mindset capable of reverse\-engineering undocumented code and converting tribal knowledge into structured processes.
**What you’ll love about us**
-----------------------------
* A fast\-growing company with meaningful, mission\-critical projects.
* An international, collaborative work environment.
* 5\-day work week.
