Company Description Anglo American, in partnership with Mitsubishi Corporation, is developing the Quellaveco mining operation—one of the world’s largest copper deposits—located in the Moquegua region in southern Peru. Quellaveco has a 30-year reserve life. It will use open-pit mining and flotation processes to produce copper concentrates, as well as molybdenum and silver as by-products. Quellaveco is expected to produce an average of 300,000 tonnes of copper per year during its first 10 years of operation. Job Description Anglo American is currently seeking a **Tailings Dam Control Engineer**. **Responsibilities** * Ensure timely, cost-effective, and scope-compliant project delivery through planning, monitoring, and control of schedules, budgets, and risks—providing accurate and timely information for decision-making. * Manage procurement of required materials to ensure construction and execution of scheduled operational tailings dam projects. * Identify and request new services and/or extensions (addenda) to existing services to synergize resources and execute operational projects through coordination with all supervisor and contractor teams. **Key Functions** * Coordinate with the supply chain team on procurement of materials required for execution of transferred project works. * Closely coordinate with the Tailings Planning Lead on arrival of purchase orders for required materials and weekly activity planning to identify interferences. * Monitor addenda to current contracts with the supply chain team to support development of transferred projects. * Validate and manage monthly valued EDPs and HES reports. * Request minor services needed to support and develop transferred projects. * Generate POs, PRs, and RFCs for services/purchases required by transferred projects. * Track KPIs related to project production. * Monitor and track construction plans for transferred projects. * Support material and resource requisition to enable transition from paddocks to slope discharge. * Follow up on new contracts and creation of requirements for new scopes of work. * Request and control materials for new fronts of dam raising. * Track new service orders and purchase orders. * Perform reservations and direct postings in SAP for operational consumables and transferred projects. * Monitor closure of valuations for contractors supporting operational tailings dam projects. * Conduct cost estimation, analysis, and control for projects; identify cost-related risks and propose mitigation solutions for potential deviations. * Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and quality teams to align actual progress with operational project plans. * Prepare financial status reports for projects, including trend analysis and forecasting. * Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor. **SHE Functions and Responsibilities** * Know and apply Anglo American Quellaveco’s SHE values, principles, and policy—and contribute to its vision of zero harm. * Ensure that SHE hazard and risk controls related to assigned activities are implemented at the workplace to enable safe performance. * Comply with internal Management System standards, procedures, and regulations—and actively participate in training, awareness, and Zero Harm culture-building sessions. * Promptly report unsafe acts and conditions, as well as incidents. * Halt any activity that could cause significant environmental impact or endanger worker health and safety, company assets, or product quality requirements. Requirements **Academic Qualifications and Driver’s License** * Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, Administration, Economics, or a related field; professional registration required. * Postgraduate studies in Administration and/or Logistics and Supply Chain Management preferred. * Intermediate level of English proficiency (mandatory: able to hold conversations). * Valid Class A1 driver’s license (mandatory), with at least two years of validity. **Professional Experience** * Minimum 3–5 years in similar roles within mining, construction, energy, gas, or oil sectors—experience in tailings dams preferred. * Experience in project planning, cost estimation, and cost control for projects—tailings dam experience preferred. * Experience managing contractor companies. * Experience managing contract costs and budgets. **SHE Competencies** * Ability to recognize SHE hazards and risks associated with own activities, as well as identify effective controls already implemented.
