As part of the IDB Group's institutional transformation and the enhanced role of the Vice Presidency for Countries and Regional Integration (VPC) and the Andean Regional Department (CAN), the IDB Country Offices of Bolivia and Peru seeks to hire a communications professional with a strong development communications background, a strategic communications mindset, a deep understanding of the local sociopolitical context, and the ability to provide communications advice to management while engaging effectively with diverse IDB stakeholders.
The aim of this multicountry consultancy is to support the strategic positioning and visibility of the IDB as a trusted partner for sustainable development in Bolivia and Peru. The role will support both Country Office Management Teams and relevant business units in the strategic external communication of institutional priorities, regional programs, partnerships, operations and knowledge products, dedicating approximately 50% of its time to each country.
In close collaboration with VPC, the Regional Department and the Communications Division, this role will require creativity, strategic vision, sound judgment and adaptability to drive effective messaging across diverse audiences and channels in two complex, multi\-stakeholder environments simultaneously. While the position is housed within the IDB and based in Lima, Peru, it is designed to support communications efforts across both Bolivia and Peru, as well as the broader IDB Group.
**What you’ll do**

* Provide strategic communications advisory services to Country Representatives of Perú and Bolivia and management teams, ensuring alignment with IDB Group corporate communications policies, guidelines, and approval processes.
* Develop and implement annual communications work plans for both Country Offices, aligned with country priorities, the Regional Department, VPC, and the IDB Group institutional agenda.
* Design and execute results\-based visibility strategies to effectively communicate the development impact of IDB operations, partnerships, and knowledge products in both countries.
* Support the management of communications risks and crisis situations, ensuring timely coordination with the Senior Regional Communicator, the Communications Division, and Country Office Management Teams.
* Lead the design and implementation of communications strategies for high\-visibility public and private events, ensuring compliance with institutional protocols, brand standards, and approved messaging.
* Develop and maintain a stakeholder mapping of key audiences, including government counterparts, private sector representatives, civil society, media, academia, donors, and influencers.
* Support media relations and strategic communications efforts by managing key media relationships, coordinating outreach and press activities, developing media content, talking points, monitoring the IDB Group’s reputation and visibility, and providing timely insights and analysis to support communications strategy and decision\-making.
* Conceptualize, draft, and coordinate high\-quality communications content across multiple platforms, including digital channels, publications, speeches, and knowledge products, ensuring consistency with institutional messaging.
* Ensure compliance with the IDB Group brand and visual identity standards and oversee the production of communications materials, including coordination with external vendors and service providers.
* Develop a biweekly report to monitor progress against the work plans and deliverables defined for each country.
**What you'll need**
--------------------
* **Education:** Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
* **Experience:** At least 2 years of progressive experience working on initiatives or assignments with a focus on the Andean region, particularly Bolivia and Peru in strategic communications, development communications, or public relations. Desirable **5 years** of experience in strategic communications, development communications, or public relations. Familiarity with the local cultural environments and working contexts of both countries would be an additional advantage. Experience in coordination with corporate/central teams and regional/local offices
* **Languages** : Proficiency in English and Spanish, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable

* **Citizenship:** You are a citizen of one of our 48\-member countries . Must be eligible to work in job location(s) without the need for sponsorship.
* **Consanguinity:** You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
