Optimize satellite image analysis #### **Project Information:** AVISA SZF PERÚ, a non-profit civil association and implementing partner of the Frankfurt Zoological Society’s Andes–Amazonia Peru Conservation Program, aims to contribute to and promote the conservation of biological diversity—particularly within Peru’s National System of Protected Natural Areas (SNAP)—by conducting basic and applied scientific research to enhance knowledge about wild fauna and flora species and their habitats; similarly, it supports and collaborates with governmental, non-governmental, and private organizations toward conserving threatened species and managing their habitats; and finally, it supports implementation of environmental education, training, and outreach measures that raise awareness regarding the environment and the conservation of threatened species and their habitats. #### **About the Position:** Manage geographic information and develop automated technological solutions to monitor threats in FZS landscapes and areas of interest, and implement workflows through programming and application development on platforms (e.g., Google Earth Engine) to optimize satellite image analysis and track vegetation cover changes supporting organizational strategic decision-making. #### **Your Responsibilities:** * Provide GIS information across various activities and processes within projects to achieve objectives, in close coordination with the Head of Environmental Legal Management at FZS Peru. * Prepare annual reports on deforestation status within FZS landscapes and other areas of interest. * Report alerts and vegetation cover changes detected in landscapes and areas of interest. * Provide satellite imagery upon request for landscapes, subject to evaluation and approval by the Environmental Legal Manager and the Yaguas Landscape Manager. * Program and maintain automated applications and scripts using Google Earth Engine (GEE) and other programming languages (JavaScript/Python) for large-scale geospatial data processing. * Collect, systematize, and generate GIS databases (shapefiles, rasters, APIs) for landscapes and areas of interest. * Conduct field visits to validate results generated by developed applications or reports, collecting data via drones to feed analytical models. * Deliver technical reports to public and private institutions upon request, subject to prior approval by the Environmental Legal Manager and the Yaguas Landscape Manager. * Coordinate with GIS specialists or Control and Surveillance units of protected natural areas under SERNANP with which FZS Peru collaborates, as well as with surveillance and control specialists from each FZS landscape. * Provide GIS and remote sensing technical support to FZS Peru landscapes and cross-cutting areas. * Drone operation experience preferred, with license or official accreditation. #### **Your Profile:** Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geographic Engineering, Forestry Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields. #### **What We Offer:** * Formal employment contract effective from the first day of work. * Social benefits payments. * Participation in trainings, workshops, and seminars. * Insurance coverage. * Opportunity to join one of the world’s longest-standing international conservation organizations. #### **Your Application:** * Include a digital copy of the certificate confirming non-registration in the Judicial Power’s Registry of Delinquent Alimony Debtors (REDAM). link * Include a copy of the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion’s Unique Labor Certificate verifying absence of criminal, judicial, or police records. link #### **Who We Are?** The *Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS)* is an international conservation organization headquartered in Germany, with decades of experience supporting conservation projects in Africa, South America, Southeast Asia, and Europe.
