Over the past 30 years, Alinea has managed over 350 projects across dozens of countries. The project “Women as Guardians of Biodiversity and Climate Resilience in Wetland and Peatland Landscapes” (MGB, its Spanish acronym) aims to empower women—including Indigenous women—to conserve high-altitude wetlands and peatlands, strengthening climate resilience in Bolivia, Ecuador, and Peru. The regional office is located in Lima (Peru), and implementation is underway in seven communities situated within buffer zones of three protected areas designated as Ramsar Sites—wetlands of international importance under the 1971 Ramsar Convention. Within this effort—and with the significant collaboration of YPARD for Latin America—we are implementing our volunteer program “Youth for RAMSAR”, an initiative designed to connect emerging talent with conservation work, enabling them to contribute their knowledge while learning—from our technical team and international experts—about the critical role women play in protecting Andean biodiversity.
