Participate in priming and loading of blastholes with explosives. **Full Job Description** At Minera Nueva Bonanza Mining, we are currently seeking a Jackleg Driller and personnel skilled in other drilling methods. Responsibilities: * Verify ventilation, wash the face (roof and sidewalls) to detect loose rocks, and perform rock scaling (shackeo) to ensure safe roof conditions. * Extend and connect compressed air and water hoses from supply points to the working face. * Inspect the condition of the drill rig, lubricator (oil reservoir), drill steels, and pneumatic leg functionality. * Mark the drilling pattern (layout) on the face according to instructions from the geomechanics department or supervisor. * Securely position the Jackleg leg on the floor to provide stability and thrust to the machine. * Initiate drilling (make the "point") carefully to prevent drill steel slippage. * Drill holes according to the design (drag holes, relief holes, square-up holes, and crown holes). Constantly monitor water pressure to suppress dust and cool the drill steel. * Begin with a short drill steel ("patero") and follow with a longer one ("seguidor") as required by the specified depth. * Clean the inside of holes using compressed air to remove slurry and rock fragments, ensuring smooth explosive placement. * In many mines, drillers also participate in priming and loading blastholes with explosives (e.g., ANFO or dynamite) and connecting detonating cords or detonators. * Collect tools, coil hoses, and clear the area for blasting and subsequent muck removal.
