Professional development within a leading resources company. **Location:** Caylloma, Arequipa, Peru **Employment Type:** Regular full-time **Work Location:** On\-site About **Zafranal** Zafranal is a copper and gold project projected to produce approximately 126\.000 tonnes of copper annually during its first five years of operation. It is located in the Arequipa region, Majes district, approximately four hours by road from the city of Arequipa, Peru. **Application Deadline: September 06, 2026** Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager, the **Treatment Plant Engineer** will be responsible for effectively and efficiently maintaining and operating the Potable Water Treatment Plants and the Domestic Wastewater Treatment Plant, as well as managing the reuse of treated water for road irrigation and ensuring compliance with environmental commitments outlined in our current environmental management instruments. The position is based in Arequipa, with a 14x7 work schedule. **Key Responsibilities:** * Be a courageous safety leader, comply with and champion safety and environmental rules, regulations, critical controls, and procedures. * Operate and perform preventive maintenance on the Potable Water Plant and Domestic Wastewater Treatment System, ensuring proper functionality to meet environmental legislation. * Determine operational controls for existing treatment systems, identifying alert actions based on management indicators to avoid legal contingencies related to water issues and potential soil contamination. * Plan and coordinate a preventive maintenance program, considering manufacturer recommendations and technical equipment specifications. * Record and monitor internal control parameters of the Potable Water Treatment Plant. * Record treated effluent quality data from the Treatment System and determine efficiency management indicators. * Supervise the proper functioning of equipment and facilities at water treatment plants and the Domestic Wastewater Treatment System. * Ensure monitoring of treated water quality. * Maintain records, control, and inventory of materials, supplies, and safety-related items stored in the warehouse associated with treatment systems management. * Report daily work progress and field occurrences. * Supervise and control activities assigned to preventive, corrective maintenance, and fault detection. * Leadership, strong communication skills, proactivity, and ability to work under pressure. * Ability to synthesize collected information and analyze results for report preparation. **Requirements:** * Professional Engineering degree (Environmental, Sanitary, Chemical, Industrial, or related fields). * Additional postgraduate studies in domestic wastewater treatment systems, Drinking Water Treatment Plants (DWTP), or specialization in Mining Environmental Legislation. * Minimum 5 years of experience implementing and operating Potable Water Treatment Plants and Domestic Wastewater Treatment Systems, ensuring compliance with Maximum Permissible Limits (MPL) and Environmental Quality Standards (ECA). * Experience operating DWTPs, Domestic Wastewater Treatment Plants (DWTPs), or other treatment plants. * Experience and proficiency in water monitoring, pumping from wells, operation of water control rooms, directing water reuse for road irrigation, and related software. * Proficiency in managing databases of water quality parameters and coordinating timely improvement actions or non-conformance responses to results. * Proficiency in software related to treatment plant control and monitoring. * Knowledge of basic water treatment process parameters (DWTP/DWTP), familiarity with water parameter measurement equipment, verification of measurement standards, equipment maintenance, environmental regulations related to water quality and monitoring, sludge and reject water handling. * Experience in managing, improving, and reducing sludge from DWTPs. **Why Teck** **At Teck, your work matters — for the world, for our communities, and for your future.** As one of Canada’s leading resources companies, we focus on responsibly supplying the essential metals needed for global development and the energy transition, while caring for people, communities, and the environment we love.
