We act with integrity, accountability, and transparency, and rely on facts and science to guide us—and ensure that we learn and evolve. **RESPECT** We respect the voices and knowledge of the people and communities we serve, and work to secure a sustainable future for all. **Job Description** **Primary Function** The Forest Management Intern for the Southern Amazon Landscape will support diverse functions related to forest management and activities implemented by the office concerning forest management under enabling titles (timber and non-timber forest concessions, native communities, and private properties) in the Madre de Dios region. **Key Responsibilities** **Forest Monitoring and Evaluation:** * Support forest inventories and assist in monitoring biodiversity, forest health, and resource use. * Assist in identifying forest threats such as deforestation, soil degradation, and biodiversity loss. **Support for Forest Planning and Management:** * Support the design and implementation of sustainable forest management plans, considering local community needs. * Collaborate on land-use zoning and territorial planning projects. **Research and Data Collection:** * Support data collection for case studies, environmental impact assessments, and feasibility studies. * Support analysis of inventory or field verification data. **Community Education and Training:** * Support the organization and facilitation of workshops, talks, and training sessions on sustainable forest management, conservation, and ecosystem restoration. * Collaborate on raising awareness among local communities about the importance of forest conservation and sustainable resource use. **Natural Resource Management:** * Participate in promoting the sustainable use of non-timber forest resources, such as fruits, resins, and medicinal plants. * Support the implementation of good forest management practices within enabling titles in the Madre de Dios region. **Interinstitutional Collaboration:** * Support close coordination with other NGOs, government agencies, regional associations, and community organizations. * Participate in meetings and working networks related to forest management and conservation. **Administrative Support:** * Support scheduling of meetings and preparation of informational presentations (PPT) for staff. * Assist with logistical coordination for meetings, workshops, and field trips required to implement forest management activities. **Requirements** **Minimum Requirements** **IMPORTANT: Must reside in Madre de Dios** **Academic Background** * **Education** Currently enrolled university student or recent graduate in forestry engineering, environmental sciences, or related fields. * **Experience** Desirable experience in forest resource management. Desirable experience working with multidisciplinary teams. * **Knowledge** Basic to intermediate English proficiency. Proficiency in Microsoft Office at user level.
